In passed weeks, we have shared plenty of information on how the immune system operates. Today, we are sharing great, natural ways to boost your immune system. With holidays, final exams, and family vacations coming up, it is important to keep your immune system strong, especially if you are healing from an injury.

Strengthen the immune system to prevent COVID-19:

While the coronavirus is still a concern throughout the United States, many people have gone back to  school, university, and work. Floridians are aiming to get things back to normal, so many are looking to boost the immune system. At this point, everyone is looking to make their bodies defenses as strong as possible.

There are no COVID-19 medications or preventatives at the moment. However, there are steps we can all take to give our body what it needs. Let’s talk about what precautions we can take.

The first obvious precaution a person can take it washing their hands regularly and wearing a mask outside of the home. If you are running outside or away from others, it is not necessary to wear a mask, but in some cities or establishments, a mask is required. Besides these two precautions, it is always a good idea to exercise regularly.

Physical therapy and healthy heart rate:

Although you may be getting your heart rate up in physical therapy here in our office, it is ideal for a person to exercise regularly. Getting your heart rate up for at least twenty to thirty minutes is beneficial for heart health and for the defenses. Check in with your primary care physician and physical therapist to formulate a safe, optimal workout regimen.

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is once of the best things one can do no matter the issue at hand. Whether we are discussing allergies or weight loss, eating correct portions of healthy foods can strengthen the immune system. When we overeat, the body is working in overdrive.

The body is working hard to digest all of the food consumed, and it is even worse when the food is unhealthy such as fast food or chips. On top of that, energy levels normally drop. This makes it even harder to stick with a regular exercise schedule.

Staying at an ideal weight for healing injuries:

Maintaining a healthy weight is another way to keep your immune system strong. When we are at an ideal weight, our bodies are running smoothly. When we lug around extra weight, our bodies are not happy about it.

Being over or under your ideal weight is unhealthy, so it will surely affect your overall immune health. Getting quality of sleep is immensely important. Getting into a relaxed routine is perfect for getting sufficient sleep. If you eat, shower, and get to bed at the same time every night, you will likely get enough sleep.

Your body will eventually get used to the routine as well which will ensure that you’ll get adequate sleep every night. We are going to continue sharing easy ways to strengthen the immune system next week. Make an appointment soon if you are not getting enough sleep or exercise due to an injury. Our physical therapist will be happy to help you heal injuries properly and as swift as possible!
