There are safe ways to keep your body flexible and in shape. For patients with healed car accident injuries, stretching can greatly improve the body’s mobility. Today, we will discuss the ways people stretch to assist with a multitude of maladies.

ProCare doctors treat auto accident injuries from day one:

Normally, pain is just an inevitable part of a person’s recovery journey. Healing is not ever the same for two patients. At ProCare Health & Rehab Centers, our physicians focus on giving car accident victims as much advice as possible. Continuous self care is key for managing pain.

With the right team, healing after car accident injuries can leave a person’s body in better shape than before the accident. We aim to facilitate this outcome, but it is not ever guaranteed. When patients work cooperatively with our physicians, we are sure to provide some relief.

electrical stimulationOur physicians walk through the entire process of healing auto accident injuries. We are there from day one or are there to step up when other doctors were not able to help you. ProCare doctors in our Oviedo, Florida location are involved in the very first step, diagnosis.

Call us before you make the trip to our office as we hope to reassure you of how crucial our practice is to your healing journey. It is important for auto accident injuries to be treated by a team of medical professionals willing to communicate with each other. The patient always comes first.

Moving right along- after a diagnosis, the treatment plan is carefully planned. Doctors discuss their plants with patients to give patients the opportunity to discuss concerns. Every question a patient has should be addressed before moving further.

After all concerns and questions are addressed, patients may begin the treatment plan under our care in our Oviedo location. There are many moving parts to a treatment plan. Usually, a chiropractor and physical therapist are not the only medical professionals working with auto accident victims.

Getting the clear:

stretchOnce the patient is healed enough, many ask how they can continue to move forward in a healthy, safe manor. Learning how to treat the body with care post injury is very important. Speak to your team of medical professionals about ways to be proactive.

Stretching is a natural and somewhat easy way to retain and improve mobility. Getting approval from all doctors is completely necessary, especially for those patients that have had surgeries. Although, there are usually stretches for post-surgery patients which can be modified and carried out in moderation.

Speak to your physical therapist about the stretches that can benefit you and your healing, or healed, injuries. For example, let’s discuss what someone could do after experiencing a neck injury.

A neck stretch for the long stretch:

Poor posture can create additional wear and tear on the human body post injury. An improper posture creates unnecessary pain for many Americans. Daily activity, injures, and poor posture are all causes for tight neck muscles.

Relaxed neck muscles should positively affect the overall mobility of the body. Overt time, neck stretches and exercise can immensely improve a patient’s posture. After getting firm permission, implement these gentle neck stretches into your fitness routine.

The first exercise to try out is called a flexion stretch, or the chin to chest stretch. Begin each repetition with your neck in midline position. This means your head should be centered.

You may practice this exercise laying flat on your back or sitting with a straight back. Your head should not be tilted forward, back, or to the side. Carefully, bend your head forward, bringing your chin into your chest.

Stop at the point your feel the stretch in your neck. Hold this position for twenty seconds. Return the the starting position. Repeat this four more times with a total of four reputations.

This exercise is only to be practiced on a patient’s own time after receiving permission. A physical therapist will show each patient the modified version. Every body is different as well as every injury.

Discuss which exercises are “at home” approved. Note that not every patient will receive permission to do exercises alone. We promise to make decision in each patient’s best interest. Entrust our physicians with your injuries.

Next week, we will share more mild stretches. Make an appointment today!
